Teaching and Learning
For medical students
Currently we offer for first year medical students an introductory lecture with presentation of patients, for second and third year students different optional practical trainings consisting of five lectures, two half days of practical work and a final evaluation, and for fifth year students a final block course.
The elective year can be completed at the following institutions:
- Ita Wegman Clinic, Arlesheim
- Lukas Clinic, Arlesheim
- Paracelsus hospital, Richterswil
- Regional hospital Emmental, Langnau
- During the elective year there is also the possibility to perform practical training at the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine in China.
On agreement, clinical traineeship can be completed at clinical practices and in CAM divisions and hospitals.
Further training for MDs and medical students
Further training is offered in collaboration with hospitals and other medical institutions, seminars and colloquia are organized on a regular basis in Berne and further national and international lectures are held on invitation.
Interdisciplinary and CAM doctoral and master theses can be done for example within the post-graduate programme "Management of the public health" at the University of Berne.
The continuing education of the assistant doctors at KIKOM can be accredited by the FMH on request for a maximum of one year.
Public lectures
The public lecture series on Thursday evenings during the fall semester discusses in an interdisciplinary dialogue a great variety of questions concerning conventional and complementary medicine.
The lectures of this series are then published in a book and can be purchased from Peter Lang publishing.
